Sanyo just entered the 30 year old massage chair market only a few years ago. The luxury model of the Sanyo line is the HEC DR-7700K Zero Gravity Massage Chair. This model DR7700K Zero Gravity Massage Chair is retails for about $5,000.

Manufacturers vary in their support the product also varies. Bigger companies are not always better. Customer service is critica when the need arises. How good is Sanyo's customer service?

The good news is Sanyo has now opened a US call center for warranty issues. Our experience is about average service and so far they have relatively short times to resolve issue, which is important.

You should bBenchmark a manufacturer's warranty to gage their confidence in the product. Shorter coverage equates to less confidence by the manufacturer. Whereas, warranties that are longer and more comprehensive protects the customer more. Quite Frankly, Sanyo's warranty is mediocre at best. Sanyo should have one of the strongest warranties. Especially a new entrant, however, compared to the competition, Sanyo's warranty is much weaker. Sanyo's warranty is 3 years on the roller mechanism, 1 year labor, 1 year parts. One bright note, Sanyo now offers in-home service for the first year. Much improved over bringing your 200 lb. chair down to their service center. For the $5,000 price tage, the warranty should be much stronger.

The DR-7700 is a zero gravity chair. It is able to recline back so your knees are above your heart. The HEC-DR7700K Zero Gravity massage chair meets this requirement. In the zero gravity position, your weight is more evenly distributed across your back. This removes the weight off your spine. This is a good position. One can certainly relax before, during and after your massage.

The HEC-DR7700K also has a built in Stiffness Detection Sensor. The stiffness detection sensor is based believe it or not - on lie detection technology. It detects stress points throughout your back. The Stiffness Detection Sensor then gauges fatigue by monitoring changes in your perspiration and also your pulse rate. The massage is adjusted on the fly to pinpoint higher areas of stress.
